armstrong-family-winery-four-birds-2013-label1One of Woodinville’s small but emerging winemakers is Tim Armstrong, and his support for Merlot shows in this Right Bank-style blend of Merlot (63%) and Cabernet Franc made in a tribute to his in-laws: the Robbins family. A pleasing oak program elicits hints of roasted coffee and caramel behind soft aromas of Rainier cherry, plum and currant. Supremely refined tannins allow for a profile of blackberry and boysenberry to push and push into a finish of caramel and cocoa.

Rating: Outstanding!
