In fact, it dominates the blend at 83%, and undergoes a quick 10-month barrel program leading with American oak (70%). Beautiful aromas of Marionberry taffy from Bruce’s Candy Kitchen and blackberry cobbler pick up attractive hints of vanilla, cocoa powder and rose petal. Its tannin structure is reminiscent of a perfect date – arriving early and staying late – within a fruity structure of currant and cranberries. And yet, there’s some lusciousness on the midpalate that carries into a chocolaty finish with cherry skins and cherry pit, a combination which helps to balance the dab of residual sugar.
